How do you like your tea?

Tea is a popular drink in many countries around the world. In England it is drunk from a cup but, in Turkey, it is drunk from a tulip-shaped glass. In China you drink from a bowl and in Russia you use a cup with sugar or jam. How do you drink your tea?

In both Mongolia and Tibet, tea is drunk from a bowl. In Mongolia, the tea is brewed with water and yak milk. Then it is mixed with milk, salt, butter and roasted grains. In Tibet, the tea leaves are mixed with salt, goat's milk and yak butter and a thick buttery drink is produced. Sometimes grain is added to make a soup-like drink called Tsampa.

In Morocco, green tea, fresh mint and sugar are spooned into a tall silver pot. Then boiling water is added. The tea is accompanied by dried apricots, figs and nuts.

In India, a spicy tea called chai is popular. It is made with pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and sugar.
